Serological Reaction Section 3
1.Agglutination card
- It is an agglutination card containing circles.
- Each circle can be used for one agglutination reaction.
- Background colour of circle can be white or black-depending upon the colour of antigen of the test, appropriate colour card is used eg. Antigen in RPR test is black, so white card is used to make the agglutinate clearly visible.
Use:
Specimen Section 2
- Ascaris lumbricoides – Round Worm
- It is a specimen of Ascaris lumbricoides .
- Agent – Ascaris lumbricoides ( Nematode)
- Distribution of the worm – Worldwide, prevalent in India
- Habitat – Small intestine (Jejunum)
- Largest intestinal nematode
- Morphology of adult worm
- Colour – Light brown or pink when fresh, changes to white
- Shape – Rounded and tapering at both ends, Anterior end is thinner than posterior
- Mouth opens at anterior end and possesses 3 finely toothed lips
Biochemical Reaction section - 1
- IndoleTest
- Culture and Reagent used:
- 24 hour Growth in Peptone Water
- p-dimethylamino benzaldehyde (Kovac’s reagent)
- Principle: Organism producing Tryptophanase enzyme that degrade (hydrolysis & deamination) the Tryptophan present in culture media & produce Indole as a metabolic end product.
